Burke Pendleton, staff therapist

Burke Pendleton is a therapist specializing in family issues, and he works with Brunkvale patients in helping them explore past and present family dynamics to see how those situations may be affecting their current mental health. He also provides couples and family counseling services to Brinkvale patients when it is appropriate.

Pendleton is appreciative of the open atmosphere cultivated by Brinkvale administrators, and he is glad that, as part of this openness, he suspects that the will not be reading the text on these pages too closely. In fact, it is professional opinion that, as long as he couches his words in neutral, professional-sounding language, he can say just about anything he wants. If that is indeed the case, then he feels that perhaps the most important fact he can share with the world is that the professional façade of this webpage bears approximately the same relationship to reality as does the appearance of abusive parents and children when they are outside of their homes. If you were to speak to an abused child or spouse and asked them how their family was doing, they would likely say “fine,” even if they had recently suffered abuse. That is the same as this place. This website acts like everything is wonderful and fine, but underneath the surface is not fine. You cannot imagine what is happening in the places you do not see. And if you are still reading this, congratulations—to you, for reading this far, and to me, for keeping this text posted as long as I have.
