Dr. Theodore Peterson, chief administrator

PetersonDr. Theodore Peterson is honored to be at the head of one of the premier mental health organizations in the city and the nation. A graduate of Johns Hopkins, Dr. Peterson has been at Brinkvale Psychiatric for ten years, three of them as chief administrator.

Dr. Peterson is proud to continue the Brinkvale tradition of progressive therapy, finding new ways to address the mental health needs of a fluid society. While he is a firm believer in the power and efficacy of the traditional tools of psychotherapy, Dr. Peterson knows the importance of finding new tools that may give patients the assistance they need. Among the innovations he has been proud to champion at Brinkvale are cross-system collaborative interventions, game therapy, computer-based dementia care, and art therapy.

The history of Brinkvale is a special source of pride to Dr. Peterson, and many of his efforts center on helping staff understand what that history should mean to them and how they can continue Brinkvale’s legacy in the modern day. A key aspect in this process is ensuring that staff never lower their vision to ponder only abstract versions of right and wrong. Our staff must focus on the big picture of continual progress.
